Bob Breckenkamp - Lead Guitar and Vocals
Born in St. Louis Missouri, Bob Breckenkamp has been obsessed with playing guitar since the age of six. During those early years, he worked hard taking lessons and practicing long hours which finally paid off when he was accepted into the Royal Irish Academy of Music (www.riam.ie) in Dublin, Ireland, soon after moving to Ireland with his family. There he studied classical guitar and theory. He played with various rock bands and show bands as a teenager in Ireland before coming back to the states and settling in Hanover County, Virginia. Since returning home, Bob has played continuously with a variety of regional bands including Chances Are, Private Sector, Ukiah, Lynkx, Lenny and the Scooters, Lost Boys, and Boulevard before joining Pastelblack. Previous styles have included everything from rock to country to Latin rock and everything in between. When not playing (or obsessing about it..) Bob enjoys fishing, boating, karate, and just hanging around the lodge with his wife Lynne and all of their dogs and cats. Bob's day job is as a licensed civil engineer.

Evan Evans - Bass Guitar and Vocals
As a child of the 60's (adolescent may be closer), Evan Evans was raised on classic rock way back when it was brand new. The Beatles and the Beach Boys got it started for Evan, and by the time the Age of Aquarius had passed, Hendrix and Cream had finished the job. During that time period several of the bands that Evan helped along included Catawba (Blacksburg), Latigo Rein (Fayetteville, NC), then back home to Richmond with Rockin Horse and the Red Ball Jets finishing out the 70's. In 1980, Evan married the former Jan Elliott.
In the early 80's there was a two year reprise with Rockin Horse followed by a succession of bands including Three Speed, Silver Creek and Rachet/Igniter (two names, one band), to name just a few. Not long after that (~1984), Evan and Bob Breckenkamp finally teamed up to help out another local Richmond band called Private Sector. After a several year stint in Private Sector, Evan reunited with alumni from the Horse and the Jets to form a huge local favorite, My Uncle’s Old Army Buddies. After several years in the Buddies, Evan rejoined Bob in 1988 to offer their services to several popular area bands that included Lenny & the Scooters, Chances R (with Beth Justice, the vocalist extraordinaire now leading Sweet Justice), and the Lost Boys. In addition to lending these bands his exceptional bass skills and vocal qualities, the period in the late 80's and early 90's found Evan, and Bob pursuing several song writing and recording projects, fomenting ideas that would later emerge as inspiration for some of the songs on the current cd by Pastel Black.
Evan has managed a broad musical career that for some would be the equivalent of a full time job, in addition to working nearly 25-years in the hectic coin laundry industry.
And now , in Pastel Black, you would have thought he might have grown weary of singing & playing bass. Well, you would be WRONG!! So ROCK ON, because rest assured, Evan will be!!
P.S. Left out of this bio is at least 10 bands (or near-bands) with names long forgotten, or never created. Though it hasn’t always been easy, it has been mostly FUN!! My sincere thanks to Bob, to Carter, and to Tripp. Evan loves Jan.

Carter Flippo - Drums/Percussion and Vocals

His favorites include The Doobie Bros., The Eagles, The Allman Brothers, and Elvis Presley (the Vegas one).
